33rd Carlton Spring Clean Litter Pick (16-03-25)Three young people and 18 adults participated this year and cleared the roads to surrounding villages of accumulated litter. The volume collected ( 1.2 cu. m ) was similar to last year, but this year there was an exceptional number of glass bottles in the ditches and hedgerows, particularly in Lount Road, and Bosworth Road. Car debris from recent floods and hedgerow accidents included front wing pieces, wheel trims and number plates. There was also a nice variety of miscellaneous items, including two pairs of trainers, a greenhouse heater, catering size squeezy cream cannisters, and three car tyres.
Prizes were awarded for items as follows:
Useful - Useable pruning saw (a prize in itself!), and a massive chain and padlock
Interesting - Sport First Aid bag with contents
Decorative - Skylanders Giants scooter
Thanks to the Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council Clean Neighbourhoods Team for the loan of equipment and for disposing of all the rubbish collected.
